Error: Outlook Express could not be started

Error: Outlook Express could not be started 0x80004005 183


Cause: When you try to open Outlook Express you might get the following message:





Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to open the Outlook Express message store. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. Contact Microsoft support for further assistance. (0x80004005, 183)


This issue occurs when Outlook is not able to access mails from DBX folder.

Note: In this scenario you need to rename the .DBX folder so before doing any troubleshooting you need to take the backup of the mails.

How to Backup of Microsoft Outlook Express

Close Outlook Express Application
Open My Computer
Open C: drive
Double click Documents and Settings folder
Double click Administrator folder
Double click Local Settings folder
Double click Application Data folder
Double click Identities folder
Look for {D190EE07-1887-4595-8F62-6253114299D2}folder and open it
Double click Microsoft folder
Double click Outlook Express folder
Rename Folder.dbx as old.folder.dbx
Restart the Outlook Express Application
Note: Once you restart Outlook Express Application it create a new folder named as folder.dbx, if user is not able to access the mails then import the mails from the backup.
